Ashoknagar, Nov 13: A bitter dispute over agricultural land in Karaiya Bainet village of Ashoknagar district escalated into a deadly clash on Wednesday night, leaving three relatives dead and several others injured, police reported on Thursday.

The confrontation erupted between two brothers, Mahendra Yadav and Krishnabhan Yadav, over possession of four acres of farmland owned by their 75-year-old father, Khillan Singh Yadav. The land had been allotted to Mahendra, but Krishnabhan reportedly arrived with a tractor intending to destroy Mahendra’s mustard crop, sparking a verbal altercation that quickly turned violent.

Both sides, including Khillan Singh and other family members, armed themselves with swords, axes, and lathis, leading to a full-scale attack. Two family members died immediately at the scene, while Khillan Singh and another relative, Pawan Yadav, sustained serious injuries and died during treatment at a local hospital. Krishnabhan later succumbed to his injuries at a Bhopal hospital early Thursday morning.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ganjendra Kanwar confirmed that post-mortems have been conducted and the bodies handed over to families for last rites, which were performed under police supervision.

An FIR has been registered, weapons used in the attack seized, and investigations are ongoing. Three others remain hospitalized in Ashoknagar.
