Mangaluru, Nov 13: St Theresa’s School, Bendur, Mangalore, celebrated Children’s Day on November 13 for the high school section with great joy and enthusiasm under the vibrant theme “From Gen X to Gen Z.” The celebration took everyone on a nostalgic yet lively journey through time, showcasing how childhood has evolved from chalkboards to smartboards, marbles to mobiles, and handwritten letters to instant likes.

The programme commenced with the Lighting of the Diya and a prayer service titled “The Eternal Light of Childhood.” The chief guest Avniel Savio D’Souza, an International Powerlifting Champion, along with Sr Shaila, the School Correspondent; Sr Lourdes, the Principal; Sr Vidya, the Vice Principal; Sr Chrisette, the Office Administrator; head boy Roger Rebimbus, head girl Aldrina Rodrigues, and student representatives lit the Diya and the symbolic candles of foundation, growth, and potential. This was followed by a welcome ceremony symbolizing the three pillars that bridge generations — love, wisdom, and play.

The celebration began with a cheerful and energetic welcome that reminded everyone that while technology and trends may change, the true spirit of childhood — filled with innocence, curiosity, and laughter — remains timeless.

The Chief Guest, Avniel Savio D’Souza, an alumnus of St Theresa’s School and an International Powerlifting Champion, was honoured by the School Management in recognition of his outstanding achievement in the field of sports. In his address, he motivated the students to dream fearlessly, stay curious, and balance academics along with sports. Sr Shaila, the School Correspondent, inspired the students to set their goals with a “Can Do, Will Do, and Must Do” attitude, while Principal Sr. Lourdes extended her heartfelt greetings to the students on this special occasion.

The highlight of the day was the teachers’ entertainment programme – “From Chalk to TikTok”, where teachers showcased their hidden talents through songs, skits, and dances. The lively performances filled the auditorium with laughter and joy, creating unforgettable memories for the students.

The event concluded with a heartfelt message to all students — “Dear Gen Z, no app can replace kindness, respect, or imagination.” The celebration was a perfect blend of nostalgia, laughter, and inspiration, reminding everyone that the joy of childhood is truly timeless.
