Mangaluru, Nov 14: St Aloysius Pre-University College celebrated Children’s Day with great joy and enthusiasm, bringing together the vibrant Aloysian community for a memorable celebration. The programme, organised by the Students’ Council, began with a prayer, setting a serene and reflective tone for the day.
The principal, Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, extended warm wishes to the students and reminded them that Children’s Day celebrates their passion, talents, and skills. He encouraged them to remain grateful for parents who support and provide for them, teachers who believe in them, and friends who brighten their days, while also remembering and praying for children who lack similar opportunities. Highlighting Jawaharlal Nehru’s affection for children, he affirmed that students are the hope for the future, each created by God with a purpose, and urged them to make full use of their gifts and opportunities. Expressing his appreciation, he thanked the students for the joy and energy they bring into the lives of their mentors. He encouraged them to keep the child within alive by staying curious, joyful, compassionate, and full of wonder.
The celebration continued with a prize distribution ceremony honouring the winners of the ‘Staff vs Students’ competitions, which included tug of war, throwball, and cricket—reflecting the spirited and enthusiastic participation from both sides. A vibrant students’ dance performance followed, showcasing the creativity and diverse talents of the Aloysian youth. The staff members added to the excitement with a lively performance of their own, which was warmly received by the students. To add a sweet touch, chocolates were distributed to all, marking the joyful essence of the day.
The dignitaries present for the celebration included Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, principal; Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, campus minister; Vilma Fernandes, vice principal; and Inas Dias, dean. The programme was compered by Kiran Shetty, dean.
