Mumbai, Nov 15: A unique 40-hour singing marathon titled ‘Gaatha Rahe Mera Dil’ is being organised by Shodashi Foundation under the leadership of Zee Sa Re Ga Ma fame Yashavanth M G, who is also a Golden Book of World Records holder. The event will take place at Kudmul Ranga Rao Purabhavana in Mangaluru from 2 am on Tuesday, November 18, to 6 pm on Wednesday, November 19.
The programme aims to set a world singing record with a continuous 40-hour performance featuring the timeless melodies of legendary Indian playback singer, actor and music composer Kishore Kumar. Renowned and respected singers from the Karnataka coast will present Kishore Kumar’s evergreen classics throughout the event.

Police officer and music composer Gopal Kundar stated that artistes will participate in this ‘music marathon’ and render songs in varied voices, marking a remarkable achievement as they sing non-stop for 40 hours starting from the early hours of November 18.
He highlighted that although Kishore Kumar was one of India’s rarest and finest music composers and playback singers — winning eight Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and hailed as one of Bollywood’s most iconic voices — his musical legacy is gradually fading with time. The event has therefore been organised with the intention of keeping the ‘all-time great musician’ alive in public memory by revisiting and celebrating his songs.
Gopal Kundar further expressed hope that through this programme, Kishore Kumar’s music will once again resonate in Mangaluru — reaching listeners directly, immersing them in the intricate brilliance of his voice, and offering music enthusiasts an unforgettable experience.
