New Delhi, Nov 16: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s family on Sunday firmly debunked widespread rumours regarding his health, asserting that the JD(U) leader remains fully active and capable of handling a packed schedule even after the recent elections.
Speaking to reporters, Nitish Kumar’s brother Satish Kumar dismissed the speculation as baseless. “This is completely false. He takes nearly 10 meetings a day. Would he be able to work this much if he were unfit?” he said, urging people not to fall for misinformation circulating on social media.

Nitish’s son Nishant Kumar also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Bihar for delivering a massive victory to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). “I thank the people of Bihar for giving such a big victory to the NDA. Our government is going to be formed soon. Many thanks to the people,” he said.
Nishant further added that the electorate had recognised and rewarded Nitish Kumar’s two decades of governance. “They have rewarded him for 20 years of work. I sincerely hope my father continues this trust and accelerates the development process,” he remarked.
The NDA’s landslide performance saw the alliance secure 202 out of 243 seats, marking one of the strongest mandates in the state's recent political history. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, followed by JD(U) with 85. Allies including LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM(S), and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha also delivered strong results.
This is the second time the NDA has crossed the 200-seat mark, a feat last achieved in the 2010 elections.
Meanwhile, the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan suffered a heavy blow, managing only 35 seats. The RJD won 25, Congress bagged six, and CPI(ML)(L), IIP and CPI(M) secured a few scattered victories. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj, despite an extensive statewide campaign, failed to register a single win.
Outside the main alliances, AIMIM secured five seats while the BSP managed to win one.
Investigation into the rumours surrounding the Chief Minister’s health remains underway, but officials reiterated that Nitish Kumar continues to actively engage in governance and post-election review meetings.
