Mumbai, Nov 17: The state government’s hugely popular ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’ has reached its final deadline for e-KYC verification, which is set to end tomorrow, November 18. However, as many as 1 crore 10 lakh eligible women are yet to complete their e-KYC. With this large number pending, the government is expected to take a crucial decision to offer relief to beneficiaries.
With local self-government elections approaching, the ruling government is keen on avoiding discontent among women voters. There is a strong possibility that the deadline for e-KYC will be extended, ensuring that maximum beneficiaries can regularize their details without facing last-minute hurdles.

Under the scheme, women from families with an annual income of more than Rs 2.5 lakh will no longer be eligible for benefits. Linking Aadhaar with a mobile number has also been made mandatory. The government is set to make specific changes in the verification process for women whose husbands or fathers are no longer alive.
A total of 2 crore 9 lakh women had applied when the scheme was launched, out of which nearly 50 lakh applications were rejected for not meeting eligibility criteria.
With elections nearing, political observers believe the government will not risk public resentment. Hence, an extension of the e-KYC window until the election period is widely anticipated, offering a significant breather to lakhs of women.
How to complete e-KYC
The state has simplified the e-KYC process, allowing women to complete verification from their mobile phones. Beneficiaries must visit the official portal ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in or use the mobile app. After selecting the ‘e-KYC’ option, they must enter their Aadhaar number and complete verification using the OTP sent to their registered mobile number.
This extension—if announced—will come as a major relief for women relying on the scheme’s financial support.
