Srinagar, Nov 18: The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit of J&K Police has uncovered a significant new connection between the terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and the proscribed women’s group Dukhtaran-e-Millat during a series of coordinated raids across the Kashmir Valley, officials said on Tuesday.
According to sources, CIK teams conducted searches at several locations in Srinagar, Budgam, and Kulgam as part of an ongoing investigation into renewed recruitment attempts by militant groups. One of the prominent locations raided was the super speciality hospital at Shireen Bagh in Srinagar, where searches were carried out under court-sanctioned warrants and continue to remain underway.

Investigators say they have traced a revived link between JeM and Dukhtaran-e-Millat, an outfit led by Asiya Andrabi, who has been in jail since 2018. Evidence suggests that Dr. Umar Farooq and his wife Shahzada have been playing an active role in influencing and recruiting women across Kashmir on behalf of JeM. Shahzada, according to sources, was being used to rejuvenate the operations of Dukhtaran-e-Millat.
Earlier in the day, a CIK team raided Dr. Umar Farooq’s residence in Bugam village of Kulgam. Officials also revealed that the agency is investigating an online radicalisation network believed to be operating via dark-web channels and Over-Ground Worker (OGW) networks.
Search teams have recovered incriminating materials during the raids, including radical literature aimed specifically at women. Authorities expect more arrests as the operation progresses.
These developments follow the recent exposure of a white-collar terror module, jointly uncovered by J&K Police and Haryana Police in Faridabad. Interrogation of the arrested individuals from that case has provided investigators with leads pointing to previously unknown connections between JeM and dismantled groups such as Dukhtaran-e-Millat. Further operations are underway to map out the remaining elements of this network.
