'India-Russian space ties can overwhelm developed nations'

Kolkata Feb 17 (IANS) The joint efforts of India and Russia can overwhelm many developed nations in space technology, a senior Russian official said Friday.

"We should cooperate in this field...where we have a lot of specialists...We need the mutual efforts together to overwhelm developed countries in this field," Nikolai V. Lyubimov said.

Lyubimov, who was in the city to inaugurate a statue of Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, expressed hope of future cooperation between the two nations as both the nations understand each other 'very well'.

The Indian Air Force Friday inducted the most-modern Mi-17V5 helicopter, its latest buy from Russia, to ramp up the ferrying of troops and supplies to remote and mountainous areas.
