Udupi, Nov 22: A special pooja was performed for the Kanaka Kavacha of Kanakana Kindi, offered by former minister Pramod Madhwaraj, at the Goshala of his residence in Ammunje, Udupi, on Friday, November 21.

The Kanaka Kavacha will be formally inaugurated ahead of the grand Geethotsava scheduled to take place at Paryaya Puttige Math, Sri Krishna Math. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in the Lakshakanta Geeta Parayana on November 28.

Speaking on the occasion, Pramod Madhwaraj said, “When Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji informed me about the Kanaka Kavacha for Kanakana Kindi, I immediately agreed. I am offering this purely as a devotional service to Lord Krishna and Kanakadasa, without any personal motive. My father built a temple for Kanakadasa in Krishna Math, and I consider this a divine opportunity given to our family to serve Kanakadasa. As Sri Krishna loves cows, the first pooja was held at the Goshala. The bond between Krishna and Kanakadasa can never be broken.”

The Kanaka Kavacha, sculpted under the leadership of Vivek R Prabhu of Gurupura Kaikamba at Sri Damodar Jewellers, was handed over to Pramod Madhwaraj. The intricate design depicting Sri Krishna and Kanakadasa on the Kavacha has drawn widespread admiration.

Later, Pramod Madhwaraj, accompanied by representatives of the Kuruba community, formally handed over the Kavacha to Sri Krishna Math authorities.
