Ahmedabad, Nov 23: A police inspector has been booked for allegedly molesting a 19-year-old woman inside an elevator in an apartment complex here on Thursday, Ahmedabad police said on Saturday.
According to the complaint, the incident took place when the woman and the inspector were alone in the lift. As the elevator began moving, the inspector allegedly touched her inappropriately. He immediately stepped out when another person entered the lift on one of the floors.
The woman later approached the 181 Abhayam helpline and spoke to a counsellor before filing a formal police complaint.
A senior police official said, “An investigation is underway. We will summon the inspector for questioning soon.” The police added that the matter is being taken very seriously and will be thoroughly investigated.
