Sagar, Nov 23: In a heartbreaking tragedy, four teenage boys from the same extended family were killed on the spot after a speeding private bus rammed into them near Anantpura village under the Rahli police station area on Sunday evening.

The victims were identified as Shivam Pal (18), his younger brother Satyam Pal (17), their cousin Umesh Pal (16), and Prashant (14), the only child of his parents. All four had gone out together to search for missing buffaloes and had stopped by the roadside beside a parked motorcycle when the Damoh-bound bus suddenly veered off course.

Police said the impact of the collision was so powerful that the boys were thrown several metres away, dying instantly. The shock of losing four young members from one family has left Anantpura village engulfed in grief, with relatives and locals breaking down at the accident site.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the bus was speeding and the driver appeared to have lost control before crashing into the boys. The police have seized the vehicle and launched a detailed investigation. All four bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Deori MLA Brijbihari Pateriya reached the spot immediately after receiving news of the accident, cancelling his scheduled visit for a Chief Minister’s programme. He met the grieving families, offered condolences, and assured them of full support. “This is an unimaginable loss. We will ensure the families receive every possible assistance,” he told reporters.

Residents have demanded strict action against the bus driver and urged authorities to install speed breakers on the accident-prone stretch, which has seen several deadly crashes in recent years.

The administration has not yet announced any compensation for the bereaved families as the investigation continues.
