Colombo, Nov 24: The Indian women’s blind cricket team etched its name in history by winning the first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in a commanding final in Colombo. With this victory, India capped off an undefeated campaign, showcasing complete dominance from start to finish.

After opting to bowl first, India restricted Nepal to 114 for 5 in 20 overs. The run chase was executed with precision, as the Indian side crossed the target in just 12.1 overs, leaving 47 balls unused. Khula Sharir delivered a standout performance, smashing an unbeaten 44 off 27 deliveries with four boundaries to seal the triumph.

The win comes shortly after India’s women defeated South Africa in Navi Mumbai, reinforcing the rising stature of women’s cricket — both mainstream and visually impaired — in the country.

India reached the final after a comfortable nine-wicket win over Australia, while Nepal secured their berth with a narrow victory against Pakistan in the semifinals.

The six-nation tournament — featuring India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the USA — began on November 11 in New Delhi, with fixtures later moving to Bengaluru before culminating in Colombo for the knockout rounds.

India’s Path to Glory:

• Beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets
• Beat Australia by 209 runs
• Beat Nepal by 85 runs
• Beat the United States by 10 wickets
• Beat Pakistan by 8 wickets
• Semifinal: Beat Australia by 9 wickets
• Final: Beat Nepal by 7 wickets (Colombo)

India’s commanding title run not only highlights their consistency and skill but also marks an important milestone for the growth and recognition of blind cricket worldwide.
