Udupi: Accident in Brahmavar Claims Auto Rickshaw Driver's Life

Udupi, Feb 18: A person died on the spot in a gruesome accident that occurred near Dharmavara Auditorium in Brahmavar near here on Saturday February 18.

The deceased has been identified as Govinda Raj (50) a resident of Airody Maabukala who was a auto rickshaw driver by profession.

The incident occurred when he was returning after dropping passengers from Kumragodu school to Brahmavar bus stand.

A tipper plying from Kundapur to Brahmavar collided with the rickshaw driven by the victim. The impact of the accident was such that the rickshaw got trapped under the tipper. A crane was then pressed into service to detach it and the body was retrieved.
 
Govinda Raj is survived by his wife, son and a daughter.

    True that the road works need to pace up. I've been to Brahmavar, and as it is every time I've had to cross the road,my heart was in my mouth. Now thanks to the roadworks,its even more scary. Getting a National Highway done is development for the town but safety for pedestrians and all vehicle drivers need to be taken care of too.
    And as for the family left behind. I hope and pray that you be given strength to bear this tragic loss of a loved one.

    dear ravi hemmady,, don always blame .. it may be the auto drivers mistake too... auto drivers are so careless some times that they just turn or stop in the middle of the road to pick up passengers irrespective of continuous traffic behind him.... many a times innocent people fall in trouble due to others mistake.. so please don blame anyone without knowing the fact

    Poor rickshaw driver died small inscet,who cares for this type regular accidents, negligeincy driving by the tipper driver taken innocent rickshaw drivers life. I request national highway authority people to speed up the ongoing daul carriage road work. so that this type accident will much lesser.
