Bengaluru, Nov 27: Alliance PU College observed Indian Constitution Day with great respect and enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to the core constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. The observance aimed to deepen students’ understanding of constitutional ideals, strengthen awareness of their rights and duties, and encourage a stronger commitment to democratic principles and a just society.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment, followed by a student-led presentation on the significance of Indian Constitution Day, covering both its historical importance and contemporary relevance. The event was further enriched by insightful addresses from the distinguished guest speakers from Alliance University; Dr Sumant Kumar, associate professor, Alliance School of Liberal Arts and Humanities, and Dr Showkat Ahmad Wani, assistant professor, Alliance School of Law, who shared perspectives on constitutional values, civic responsibility, and the role of youth in safeguarding democratic institutions.

To provide students with a deeper understanding of the evolution and structure of the Constitution of India, a thematic video was screened as part of the programme. This was followed by a collective reading of the Preamble and the ‘Preamble oath’, during which all attendees reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals enshrined in the Constitution.
In order to enhance civic awareness and experiential learning, a mock election was conducted, giving students hands-on exposure to the democratic voting process and encouraging informed, responsible, and participatory citizenship. Additionally, students presented an awareness reading on the concept of vote bank, helping their peers better understand electoral dynamics and emphasizing the importance of ethical voting in a vibrant democracy.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks and the rendition of the National Anthem, fostering a sense of unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility. The observance of Indian Constitution Day at Alliance PU College served as a meaningful reminder of India’s rich constitutional heritage and the duty of every citizen to uphold, protect, and propagate its guiding principles.
