New Delhi, Nov 27: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday reaffirmed that India’s diplomatic engagements, growing economic power and robust armed forces collectively portray a nation devoted to peace while remaining fully equipped to safeguard its borders and people.
Speaking at the Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025 at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, she lauded the armed forces for their unwavering professionalism and patriotism. She noted that the recent success of Operation Sindoor stands as a significant milestone in India’s counter-terrorism efforts and deterrence strategy.

“The Indian armed forces have demonstrated exemplary professionalism in protecting our sovereignty. Across every security challenge—whether conventional operations, counter-insurgency tasks or humanitarian missions—our forces have shown extraordinary adaptability,” the President said. She added that Operation Sindoor not only showcased India’s military strength but also its moral conviction to act decisively yet responsibly in the interest of peace.
President Murmu also highlighted the defence forces’ vital role beyond security, acknowledging their contributions to national development through infrastructure building, education, and community initiatives in border regions.
Reflecting on the rapidly evolving global landscape, she observed that shifting power equations, technological upheavals and emerging domains like cyberspace and cognitive warfare are reshaping the international order and blurring the boundaries between war and peace.
Outlining India’s approach to global affairs, President Murmu said the country’s ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam upholds the belief that strategic autonomy can harmoniously coexist with global responsibility. Together, she noted, India’s diplomacy, economic capability and military strength project a nation committed to peace while remaining resolute in defending its interests.
Expressing optimism about the forum’s outcomes, she said she hoped the discussions would offer valuable guidance to policymakers shaping India’s path forward. She concluded by expressing confidence that the armed forces will continue their pursuit of excellence as the nation advances towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
