Mangalore: Narrow Escape for Driver as Cylinder-laden Lorry Hits Electric Pole

Mangalore, Feb 19: A lorry loaded with gas cylinders plying from Mangalore to Kerala rolled over beside a pit after hitting an electric pole at Pumpwell here on the Saturday  February 18 at around 8.30pm.

The driver of the lorry (KL 13 F 7110) escaped with minor injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital in the city.

Speaking to Daijiworld, one of the eyewitnesses said that the accident occured when the lorry which was moving towards Pumpwell overtook a road roller from the left.

It was narrow escape for the driver and those around, as a major tragedy may have occured considering the fact the lorry was loaded with gas cylinders and there were electric wires around. Negligent driving is said to be the main cause for the accident.

Police and fire personnel rushed to the spot to control the situation and to ensure safety measures.
