New Delhi, Nov 30: A speeding Mercedes G63 ran over three people near Ambience Mall in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area late last night, leaving one dead and two others injured, police said. The incident occurred after midnight when the car reportedly lost control, hit a pole, and struck the three individuals waiting at an auto stand.

The deceased has been identified as Rohit, 23, a resident of Chamoli in Uttarakhand. The two injured, aged 35 and 23, are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. All three were employed at a restaurant in Ambience Mall.

The driver, Shivam, 29, a resident of Karol Bagh, has been arrested. Police said Shivam was accompanied by his wife and elder brother at the time of the accident. The vehicle belongs to his friend, Abhishek.

According to preliminary investigations, the Mercedes lost control while navigating a diversion, causing it to hit a pole before ramming into the victims. Reports suggest that Shivam and his family were returning from a wedding when the accident occurred.
