Mangaluru, Dec 2: The students of St Agnes School CBSE added yet another accolade to the institution’s sporting accomplishments by securing the runner-up position in both the under-14 and under-17 girls’ volleyball tournament, Carmel Spike Fest, organised by the Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools (AICS), Udupi/Dakshina Kannada districts at Carmel School, Mangaluru, on November 29.
In the under-14 category, the team displayed admirable skill, coordination and competitive spirit throughout the tournament. The group comprised Aadhya K (VIII D), Rishika J Bangera (VII D), Amruth M Sequeira (VIII A), Kajal Gupta (VIII D), Adline D'Souza (VII B), Unaiza Mumtazu (VII A), Ahalya M V (VII B), Anvi Rao (VII B), Thasvi S K (VIII C), Susan D’Silva (VIII C), Preshel Pinto (VIII B), and Dishal Neha D’Souza (VIII C).









Equally commendable was the performance of the under-17 girls’ team, whose determination and teamwork secured them the runner-up position in their category. The team consisted of Priyanka Anna Correa (X A), Nishka J Bangera (IX A), Anvitha A (IX D), Siyona B D'Souza (X C), Chinnayi (X D), Abigail M D'Souza (IX D), Poorvi R (IX B), Shravya K Shetty (IX D), Thanvi Kishore (IX C), Pranamya Devadiga (VIII B), and Fathima Hadiya (VIII C).
The tournament also highlighted noteworthy individual achievements. Priyanka Correa (Under-17) was honoured with the all-rounder trophy, while Aadhya (under-14) received the best attacker trophy, acknowledging their exceptional performances.
A memorable moment unfolded when Priyanka Correa displayed remarkable sportsmanship by encouraging her teammates after a missed catch. The chief guest, moved by this gesture, remarked that such actions reflect the strong values nurtured at St Agnes School. In appreciation of her cheerful leadership, Priyanka was also awarded a cash prize.
This achievement stood as a testament to the dedicated guidance of the physical directors: Babitha, Salvia, Devika, and Surjith, whose unwavering support and expert coaching played an instrumental role in shaping the teams’ success.
The management, principal, staff and students congratulated the young achievers on their remarkable sporting accomplishments. Their discipline, unwavering determination and commendable sportsmanship were highly appreciated, and sincere wishes were offered for continued success as they pursue greater milestones in the sporting arena.
