Jalna, Dec 3: A shocking incident has come to light in Jalna city after an 18-year-old youth and a minor were detained for allegedly ordering sharp-edged swords through the postal service. Acting on precise intelligence, a team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Anant Kulkarni laid a trap and apprehended the duo, recovering two swords from their possession. The operation has stirred the locality and earned praise for the police, who are tightening their crackdown on rising youth crime.
Police received a tip-off that a young man was expected to arrive at the post office on a motorcycle to collect a parcel containing a sword. Acting swiftly, the team set up surveillance around the post office under the guidance of SDPO Kulkarni. After nearly two hours of waiting, around 4 pm, a youth and a minor arrived on a two-wheeler and collected a khaki-coloured box from the post office. As they were leaving, the police intercepted them.

Upon inquiry, the 18-year-old identified himself as Rehan Sheikh Salim and admitted that the parcel contained a sword. He further revealed that he had another sword at home. Based on this information, police seized both weapons and arrested Rehan. The action briefly created tension around the post office but quickly restored calm as details emerged.
The courageous and prompt action of the Jalna police has received wide appreciation. Authorities expressed concern over the growing criminal tendencies among misguided youth and stressed the need for strict intervention.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Ajaykumar Bansal, Additional SP Ayush Nopani and SDPO Anant Kulkarni. Officers from the Sadar Bazar DB team and the SDPO squad—including PSI Shailesh Mhaske, PSI Harish Rathod, Police Constable Ramprasad Range, Constable Parmeshwar Dhumal, Constable Sagar Khaire, Constable Durgesh Gofane, Constable Vishal Kale, and Constable Imran Khan—played key roles in the successful action.
