Mangaluru, Dec 5: The Department of Commerce organized a finance quiz competition under the banner of “Zerodha Varsity – India’s Premier Finance Quiz” at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru on November 28. The event received an overwhelming response, with 325 teams, each consisting of three students, registering and actively participating in the quiz.
The competition aimed to enhance financial literacy and create awareness about the world of finance among students. The first round was a preliminary round comprising 20 objective questions, from which six top-scoring teams qualified for the final round. After a highly competitive finale, Alric, Samuel and Alston from final BCom secured the first prize with a cash award of Rs 12,000, followed by Prajwal, Mohan and Yajnesh from I BCom who won the second prize with Rs 9,000, and Durgesh and Athmika from II MBA who achieved the third prize with Rs 3,000. The quiz not only enriched the financial knowledge of participants but also helped them improve analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, giving them a valuable learning experience.
The programme began with a prayer led by Shawn and group, followed by a cordial welcome by the compère Shamitha, who also introduced and welcomed the quiz master, Raghav Chakravarthy, co-founder of QShala, highlighting his vast expertise in the field of quizzing and learning. The presence of dignitaries added to the significance of the event. Principal Sr Dr Venissa AC, vice principal Sr Dr Roopa Rodrigus AC and PG coordinator Sr Dr Vinora AC graced the programme and encouraged the participants throughout.
The prize distribution ceremony was led by the principal, congratulating the winners and commended the efforts of the organisers, volunteers, and faculty. Staff coordinator Vineetha, head of the Department of Commerce, took the initiative for the overall coordination and smooth conduct of the programme, ensuring the event ran in an organised and impactful manner. Faculty members extended their full support by assisting in the evaluation process and motivating students, making the event both competitive and inspiring.
