An Evening of Heart, Hope & Heritage – November 8, Capitol Banquet Hall
Mississauga-Ontario, Dec 8: On Saturday, November 8, the elegant Capitol Banquet Hall in Mississauga welcomed more than 325 guests for an evening that blended celebration, purpose, and togetherness at the Canadian Canara Vision Inc (CCVI) Fundraising Charity Dinner & Dance. The event was filled with energy, emotion, and unforgettable moments.
A Warm Welcome & Vision of CCVI
The evening commenced with a warm welcome by Nelson D’Costa, chairman of CCVI, who highlighted the organization’s mission to provide dignity and support to families in times of loss and to empower the community through education, resources, and guidance. Since its inception in 2015 by visionary founder and former chairman Max Mendes, CCVI has been a pillar of support, securing 300 burial lots, with seven donated free to families in need and hosting programs to uplift youth, newcomers, and the broader Mangalorean Catholic community in Canada and abroad. The late Gilbert D’Souza, the former chairman who passed away while in office, leaving behind an inspiring legacy of leadership and service.
















































Celebrating Community Heroes & Young Achievers
Nancy Mendes delivered heartfelt tributes during the evening. She honoured Yeoman Award recipient Romeo Jack Barbosa, acknowledging his vision, generosity, and collaboration with steadfast community members, true pillars of the CCVI mission. The award was presented by Nelson D’Costa. Nancy then inspired the audience with the story of Aaron Mendes, the youngest international chess master from the community, whose remarkable achievements were recognized with an award presented by Albert Soosay one of the CCVI board of directors.
A Night of Joy, Music & Entertainment
The Band Syndicate set the evening aglow with electrifying performances, while King & I Entertainments, with DJ Tony and MC Gavin, kept the dance floor lively and the energy infectious. Guests enjoyed a seamless evening filled with elegant décor, exquisite cuisine, and an ambience that perfectly complemented the spirit of celebration and generosity.
Raffles, Prizes & Generosity
Throughout the evening, attendees were thrilled with a multitude of door prizes, email draws, spot prizes, and a 50/50 raffle. Generously donated by Rony Rego of Rego Internationals, many guests went home with gifts, while the top two received substantial cash prizes. Sponsors were honoured with roses, and sponsor numbers were dedicated to both directors and supporters, reflecting their invaluable role in making the event a success.
