Several Injured in Nigeria Blast

Lagos, Feb 20 (IANS): Several people were injured in a car explosion Sunday near the Nigerian capital city Abuja, Xinhua reported. There were no reports of any casualties.

Muhammed Garuba, police spokesman in Abuja, told Xinhua that one person suffered serious injury in the blast in Suleja in Niger state.

Yushau Shuaib, spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, said four other people sustained minor injuries from the explosion, which also destroyed five vehicles.

No death has been reported so far, Shuaib said.

Suleja, 45 km from Abuja, has been a hotspot of attacks in recent years. A Christmas Day bombing at the Saint Theresa Catholic Church there killed more than 40 people last year.
