Beltangady: SKDRDP Organizes Rainwater Harvesting Training Programme

Udupi, Feb 20: Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) organized a rainwater harvesting training programme at Rural Excellence Centre on Saturday February 18.

SKDRDP director Jayashankar Sharma inaugurated the programme here on Saturday.

Prof L K Sripati, convener of Chirantan Club, JNN College, Shimoga, and Dr Narayan Shenoy, genealogist, MIT College, Manipal, were the resource persons, who explained the importance of rain water harvesting  and various methods of conserving underground water resources through power point presentations.

SKDRDP chief executive Dr L H Manjunath was also present on the occasion.

The office-bearers of Pragatibandhu Federations of Puttur taluk and co-ordinators of Beltangady taluk water and cleanliness programme, and progressive farmers participated in the training programme.

The taluk water and cleanliness project officer Abhayaraj welcomed the gathering.  Co-ordinator Srinivas proposed the vote of thanks.

    As the water crisis continues to become severe in India due to over exploitation of ground water, most of the water bodies have completely vanished.
    Rain water harvesting save precious water resources & helpful in recharging the water table.
