Mangaluru, Dec 12: The department of history, school of arts & humanities, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with the department of language and culture, government of Karnataka, recently hosted a thought-provoking guest talk to commemorate the sacrifice of Onake Obavva, a legendary fearless woman of Karnataka on December 9.
The event featured Mahesh Nayak, renowned author, as the chief guest, who delivered an inspiring lecture on the relevance of Obavva in the modern context.








The talk was attended by distinguished guests, including Dr Rose Veera D’Souza, dean of the School of Arts and Humanities, Rajesh, assistant director, department of language and culture, government of Karnataka, Dr Mona Mendonca, head of the department of history, Kishore Chandra, staff co-ordinator, Shilpa Latha and Lokesh, the student co-ordinator.
The event was exclusively organised for final year history students providing a unique opportunity for them to engage with the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka and draw inspiration from Obavva's courage and sacrifice.
