Patna, Dec 15: In a deeply distressing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a man and his three young daughters were found dead in an apparent mass suicide in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar.
The tragedy unfolded on Sunday night in Ward Number Four of Mishraulia village, located within the Sakra police station jurisdiction. The deceased were identified as the father, Amarnath Ram, and his three daughters: Radha Kumari (11), Radhika (9), and Shivani (7).
The father's wife had reportedly passed away approximately a year ago. According to preliminary reports, Ram allegedly gathered his five children and instructed them to stand on a trunk with ropes around their necks, which he also did to himself, before telling them to jump. Ram and his three daughters tragically followed through.
However, his two young sons, Shivam Kumar (6) and Chandan (4), reportedly refused to jump and survived the incident. The two surviving boys raised an alarm, alerting neighbors who then rushed to the scene and contacted the police.
Upon receiving the information, a team from the Sakra police station promptly arrived at the site. The district police have recovered the four bodies and transported them to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, for post-mortem examinations.
The two surviving sons are currently receiving medical treatment. An official First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged at the Sakra police station, and investigators have summoned the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to meticulously collect evidence from the scene. While the police are investigating the case from all possible angles, there is currently no official statement regarding the motive or exact cause of the tragedy.
Authorities are prioritizing the recovery and detailed statements of the two surviving sons, Shivam and Chandan, in the hope that their accounts will provide crucial insights into the sequence of events and the reasons behind the devastating act.
The chilling incident has plunged the area into an atmosphere of profound grief and fear as the police continue their rigorous probe to determine the precise circumstances of the tragedy.
