Gandhinagar, Dec 15: A minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Gandhinagar city on Monday, following which police registered a case and detained four persons for interrogation, officials said.
According to the police, the incident occurred before dawn when the child, who lives with her parents and grandmother in kachha houses, stepped out to answer nature’s call while the rest of the family was asleep. The girl reportedly returned home crying and narrated the incident to her family, after which a complaint was lodged with the police.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Ayush Jain said a case was registered after the medical examination of the victim. “We have detained four persons in connection with the case and they are being interrogated. Further investigation is underway,” he said.
Reacting to the incident, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat unit chief Isudan Gadhvi alleged a breakdown of law and order in the state. In a statement issued later in the day, he claimed that three rape incidents involving minor girls had been reported in Gujarat in the past 10 days, including cases in Gandhinagar, Bhavnagar and earlier in Rajkot.
Gadhvi demanded strict punishment for the accused and said the government must ensure that Gujarat becomes a safe and peaceful state for women and children.
