Mangaluru: Srinivas University, Institute of Aviation Studies organises awareness programme

Mangaluru, Dec 17: As part of Sexual Harassment Prevention Week, the Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, organized an awareness programme titled ‘POSH Act – Know Your Rights’ on December 15 at the Aviation Campus, Hampankatta. The programme was held with the objective of educating students about workplace safety, dignity, and respectful conduct in professional as well as academic environments.

The awareness programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of BBA Aviation Management, Aviation and Logistics Management, and MBA Aviation Management. The event was successfully conducted with the constant support and guidance of Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean; Roshin K Sibi, head of the department; and Hruthika, NSS coordinator, along with the cooperation and coordination of faculty members and staff of the Institute of Aviation Studies.

The session was effectively handled by the distinguished resource person, Dr Devi Prabha Alva, associate professor of commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous). She provided valuable insights into the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, explaining its legal framework and relevance through practical examples and interactive discussions. he also elaborated on what constitutes sexual harassment, the importance of creating a safe and dignified environment, and the procedures for reporting grievances.

Students actively interacted during the session, raising questions and sharing perspectives, which made the programme informative and impactful. The programme concluded with a strong emphasis on the institute’s dedication to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus culture while encouraging greater awareness of rights, responsibilities, and ethical conduct as outlined under the POSH Act.
