Chhattisgarh, Dec 18: In a significant anti-Maoist operation, three Naxalites, including a woman, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sukma district on Thursday, police confirmed.
The exchange of fire occurred in the morning on a forested hill under the jurisdiction of Golapalli police station when a team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was conducting a search operation based on intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoist cadres in the area, said Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan.

“The bodies of three Naxalites, including a woman, have been recovered from the encounter site. The operation is ongoing and further details will be shared shortly,” the SP added.
With this encounter, the total number of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year has reached 284, underscoring the intensified security operations in the state. Of these, 255 Naxalites were eliminated in the Bastar division, which includes Sukma, Bijapur, and Dantewada districts. The Raipur division witnessed 27 killings in Gariaband district, while two Naxalites were killed in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district of the Durg division.
The latest encounter highlights the ongoing efforts by Chhattisgarh’s security forces to curb Maoist activities and restore peace in the affected tribal regions.
