Mangaluru, Dec 19: Young Catholic Students/Young Students Movement (YCS/YSM) Karnataka region is proud to announce the election of Melson Elvis Lobo (Diocese of Udupi) and Sharon D’Souza (Diocese of Mangalore) as the new national representatives for the Karnataka region.
The election took place during the Regional YCS/YSM Council held on December 13 and 14, at the Divine Retreat Centre, Mulki, hosted by the YCS/YSM Diocese of Udupi.






Melson and Sharon succeed Anson Nazareth (Diocese of Udupi), currently serving as national president of YCS/YSM India, and Amica Frank, the outgoing National Executive Committee (NEXCO) member. The newly elected representatives will now prepare to represent the region at the national team elections during the National YCS/YSM Council in May 2026.
Melson Elvis Lobo (Diocese of Udupi): A dedicated leader from Moodubelle Parish, Melson is the son of Denis Mark Lobo and Shalet Monti Lobo. In his two years with the movement, he has served as the unit assistant PRO (2024–2025) and is the current unit president (2025–2026). He is a 2nd PUC commerce student at St Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangalore.
Sharon D’Souza (Diocese of Mangalore): Hailing from St Antony Church, Ujire, Sharon is the daughter of Roshan Nelson D’Souza and Jayanthi Jacintha Strella. An active member of her unit, she currently serves as the parish unit vice president. She is a 1st PUC (PCMB) student at St Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangalore.
A legacy of building a new society though self change, YCS/YSM movement and the Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council (KRCBC) youth commission extend their heartfelt gratitude to Anson Nazareth and Amica Frank. Their achievements at the national level have brought great pride to the region.
As Melson and Sharon step into these roles, the commission and the movement have offered their best wishes for their journey toward the national council in 2026, as they work toward the mission of building a new society.
