Kerala: Migrant worker lynched to death by mob in Palakkad, five arrested

Palakkad, Dec 19: A migrant worker from Chhattisgarh was lynched to death by a mob in Kerala’s Palakkad district on Thursday after he was suspected of theft, police said.

The victim, identified as 31-year-old Ramnarayan Bhayar, had been employed at an industrial estate in Kanjikode, Palakkad, for the past month. Reports indicate that a group of locals attacked him on suspicion that he had stolen property.

Walayar police have registered a case and arrested five individuals in connection with the incident. They have been booked on charges of murder, and further investigation is underway to identify other participants and determine the circumstances leading to the attack.

Authorities have urged the public not to take the law into their own hands and assured strict action against the perpetrators.
