Mangaluru, Dec 19: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) successfully organised a Hindi Essay Writing Competition for degree students of colleges affiliated to Mangalore University on Friday, December 19 at University College, Mangaluru. The competition was held with the objective of promoting the use of Hindi as the official language and encouraging creative and analytical writing among students.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof Ganapathi Gowda, principal, University College, Mangaluru, who, in his inaugural address, highlighted the significance of Hindi in administration and its role in strengthening national integration.



Devesh Dubey, general manager (HR), MRPL, who presided over the function, emphasized MRPL’s continued commitment towards promotion of the official language and nurturing young talent through academic and literary initiatives.
Dr Lalit Singh Rajpurohit, assistant executive (Official Language), MRPL, presented an overview of the programme. The event was attended by several distinguished academicians and officers, including Sudheer Dubey, chief manager (Official Language), MRPL; Prof Suma T R, head of the department, University College, Mangaluru; Prof A Siddiq, staff advisor; and Prof Jayavanth Nayak, staff advisor (Evening Programme), whose presence added academic value to the programme.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation of 147 students from various degree colleges affiliated to Mangalore University, representing institutions from Kundapur, Udupi, Mangaluru, Sullia, Puttur, and Kodagu. The event received positive feedback from participants and dignitaries alike and marked another meaningful step by MRPL towards strengthening the use of Hindi in official and educational spheres.
