Panaji, Dec 20: In a boost to maritime security, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) today inducted a new patrol vessel built at Goa Shipyard Ltd, officials said.
The addition is aimed at enhancing surveillance, rescue operations and coastal defence along India’s eastern seaboard as well as supporting environmental protection missions.

The vessel — constructed under the government’s “Make in India” initiative — will bolster the ICG’s operational capability to respond swiftly to emergencies, safeguard offshore assets and enforce maritime law.
Goa Shipyard Ltd has steadily emerged as a key player in indigenous shipbuilding, delivering advanced platforms for national security.
Officials highlighted that the new ship will also support fisheries protection and anti smuggling efforts, reflecting an integrated approach to coastal safety and environmental preservation.
