Mangaluru: ‘Adyar Gramotsava – 2025’ held with grandeur

Mangaluru, Dec 20: ‘Adyar Gramotsava – 2025’, jointly organised by the Adyar gram panchayat, Prakruti Sanjeevini Okkoota and Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, was held with grandeur on Saturday, December 20, at the Sahyadri College grounds in Adyar.

The gramotsava was organised with the message Harmonious village – Harmonious India. Prior to the main programme, attractive processions by schoolchildren, a drone show and folk dances were held. The dignitaries inaugurated the event by releasing pigeons.

Expert Part Educational and Charitable Trust director Narendra Nayak inaugurated the sales stalls of Prakruti Sanjeevini Okkoota and village self-help groups by cutting the ribbon and formally inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Narendra Nayak said that children should inculcate discipline and restraint at a young age. He stated that villagers, through unity and the collective participation of organisations and eminent personalities, should organise gramotsavas to spread peace, equality and unity in society. He added that the Adyar Gramotsava should become a model programme for other villages.

Chief guest Minerva College MD Manoj Kumar, in his address, said that road accidents are increasing and stressed that children must strictly follow road safety rules. He advised them to adhere to traffic regulations while riding vehicles and to be cautious while crossing roads.

Presiding over the programme, Adyar Gram Panchayat president Abdul Jaleel said that the gramotsava was organised with the cooperation of all. He noted that the event aimed to strengthen unity and harmony among village residents and added that several more socially relevant programmes would be organised in the future.

Later, various cultural competitions for schoolchildren from the Adyar gram panchayat limits were held.

Adyar gram panchayat vice-president Zohara, taluk-level Guarantee Committee president Surendra Kambli, Prakruti Sanjeevini Okkoota president Vijayalakshmi, PDO Abdul Ashaf, former panchayat president Abdul Sattar and others were present on the dais. The programme was compered by VJ Manoj Kumar Vamanjoor, who also delivered the vote of thanks. Cultural programmes were presented by members of Prakruti Sanjeevini Okkoota, while cultural performances were also staged by students of Sahyadri College.
