Mangaluru, Dec 20: The ‘Adyar Village Festival – 2025’ was celebrated with grandeur on Saturday, Dec 20 at the Sahyadri College grounds, Adyar, under the joint aegis of Adyar Gram Panchayat, Prakruti Sanjivini Sangh, and Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management.

Organized with the theme ‘Harmonious Village – Harmonious India’, the festival began with colorful events for school children, including processions, drone demonstrations, and folk dances. The inauguration ceremony was marked by the symbolic release of parrots, attended by dignitaries.

Narendra Nayak, director of Xpert Educational and Charitable Trust, inaugurated the festival by cutting the ribbon to officially launch the stalls set up by the Prakruti Sanjivini Sangh and local self-help groups. He also opened the coconut husking activity as part of the ceremonial proceedings.

Speaking on the occasion, Nayak said, “Children should develop discipline and self-control from a young age. Village residents must unite with organizations and dignitaries to conduct such festivals, promoting peace, equality, and unity in society. The Adyar Village Festival should serve as a model for other villages.”

Manoj Kumar, MD of Minerva College and the chief guest, emphasized road safety awareness, noting, “With the rise in road accidents, children must follow safety rules and exercise caution while crossing roads or driving vehicles.”

Abdul Jaleel, president of Adyar Gram Panchayat and presiding over the event, said, “We received wholehearted support to organize this festival. It was planned to enhance unity and harmony among the villagers. We will continue organizing several social welfare initiatives in the future.”
