Patna, Dec 21: Tension gripped the premises of the District Magistrate’s office in Bihar’s Sheohar district on Saturday as students from Project Girls’ Senior Secondary School staged a sit-in protest, accusing a teacher of inappropriate conduct and demanding swift disciplinary action.

According to the students, the alleged incident took place on Friday inside the school campus. They claimed that a teacher misbehaved with a girl student, triggering widespread anger among her classmates.

As per the allegations, the student was charging her mobile phone when the teacher approached her and questioned her about whom she was speaking to. Despite her denial, the teacher allegedly threatened to inform her family, accusing her of being in contact with a boyfriend. The students further alleged that the teacher intimidated and behaved inappropriately with the girl, leaving her distressed.

Outraged by the incident, a large group of students gathered outside the District Magistrate’s office on Saturday, calling for the immediate arrest of the accused teacher. During the protest, they also raised concerns about the school’s internal practices, alleging lapses in management, including the deployment of male teachers in situations where female staff should be assigned.

The demonstration caused temporary disruption at the District Magistrate’s office, drawing the attention of district officials.

Responding to the allegations, school principal Deepak Kumar said he was on leave on the day of the reported incident and learned about the matter only later. He stated that discussions were underway with the students’ parents and assured that a probe would be conducted in line with directions from senior authorities.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Avinash Kunal intervened at the site and attempted to calm the protesting students, who continued to press for a meeting with the District Magistrate. The protest eventually eased after assurances were given that formal proceedings would begin.

SDM Kunal said the victim student and her family were in the process of submitting a written complaint, after which a case would be registered and a thorough investigation initiated. District administration officials reiterated that the matter would be handled with seriousness and sensitivity, and that appropriate legal action would follow based on the findings of the inquiry.
