Mumbai, Dec 21: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday described the Bharatiya Janata Party’s strong performance in the Maharashtra local body elections as a “victory of the workers”, crediting party cadre for the overwhelming success.
Counting of votes for the elections to the posts of presidents and members in 286 municipal councils and Nagar panchayats across the state began at 10 am on Sunday. Early trends showed the ruling Mahayuti alliance — comprising the BJP, Ajit Pawar-led NCP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena — comfortably ahead.

“Yours, ours, BJP belongs to everyone and this is a victory of the workers,” Gadkari said in a post on social media platform X.
He congratulated BJP state president Ravindra Chavan, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and party workers for the party’s strong showing in the municipal council and nagar panchayat polls.
“This is a victory of the workers. I thank the people who supported the BJP by reposing their faith in its development-oriented working style,” the Union minister said.
