Gujarat, Dec 21: A joint operation by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Kutch East police led to the arrest of an alleged sharpshooter connected to the notorious Rohit Godara-Naveen Boxer gang, officials said on Sunday.

The accused, Vikas alias Golu Sheoran, a native of Kakroli in Haryana, was apprehended from Rapar town in Kutch district following specific intelligence inputs about his movements and hideout.

“Sheoran is an active member of the Rohit Godara-Naveen Boxer gang, a criminal syndicate involved in multiple violent crimes across North India. He is allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of Lavjeet, a resident of Rohtak, who was shot inside the court premises of Bhiwani city in Haryana on September 4,” the ATS said in a statement.

According to the release, Sheoran, along with associates Ajay and Rohit, fired at close range using weapons allegedly supplied by Rohit Godara. A murder case has been registered at a Bhiwani police station against several members of the gang. Following the incident, the accused reportedly went underground under instructions from gang leaders and took shelter in Rapar.

Alongside Sheoran, authorities also detained Dinkesh alias Kali Garg, a resident of Rapar, who allegedly provided shelter to Sheoran despite knowing his criminal background. Garg is also from Haryana and reportedly had personal links with Naveen Boxer.

Both Sheoran and Garg have been handed over to the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) for further investigation and legal proceedings, the ATS added.
