Jammu, Dec 22: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat reaffirmed the UT police’s commitment to maintaining strict vigilance over terrorism and all forms of criminal activity. Speaking at the inauguration of the 14th Police Martyrs Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament 2025-2026 in Kathua, the DGP emphasized that the police will closely monitor drugs, gangsters, mafia networks, and especially terrorism.

“The constant aim of the police is to stamp out anti-national and anti-social activities in Jammu and Kashmir,” DGP Prabhat stated.

He highlighted ongoing operations by the J&K Police and security forces targeting terrorists, overground workers (OGWs), sympathizers, drug traffickers, and individuals involved in hawala money rackets. These coordinated efforts aim to dismantle the complete support ecosystem that sustains terrorism in the region. Funds from illegal activities, including drug smuggling and hawala, are believed to finance terrorist operations.

The DGP also noted the key role of the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) in managing cross-border security, including infiltration, exfiltration, drug smuggling, and drone activity. Jammu and Kashmir has a 740-km Line of Control (LoC), covering Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu, manned by the Army, and a 240-km international border in Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts, monitored by the BSF.

Security preparedness and operations are regularly reviewed in meetings chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah being updated on counter-terror achievements and the overall security scenario in the union territory.
