Mother India Ex-Students Foundation honours Dr Vishwanath Karnad

Mumbai (RBI), Dec 22: Mother India Ex-Students Foundation felicitated noted writer and researcher Dr Vishwanath Karnad, a former student of Mother India Charitable Night School and recipient of the prestigious Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Literary Award 2025, at his residence here on Sunday.

Foundation president Surendra A Poojary, general secretary Harish Maindan, vice president Umesh Shetty, treasurer T V Poojary, joint secretary Ashok Suvarna and fund-raising committee convenor Munjunath Poojary were present and extended their congratulations.

Speaking on the occasion, Surendra A Poojary said that a former student of a Mumbai night school receiving such a prestigious national-level award is a matter of immense pride for all night school alumni. He said Dr Karnad’s achievement is historic in the annals of night schools and congratulated him on behalf of the foundation.

Dr Karnad said that he dedicates the award to Mother India institution, which showed him the right path in life.

Introducing Dr Karnad, Ashok Suvarna said that he is a multifaceted personality — a short story writer, poet, theatre artiste, lecturer in Hindi, Kannada and English, football player, advocate, editor, banker, eloquent speaker, guide to research students and a promoter of the Hindi language. He added that Dr Karnad has contributed more than 30 works to the world of literature and remains a proud alumnus of Mother India.
