Mangaluru, Dec 23: Yuletide joy filled the Carmel School Auditorium, Mangaluru, on December 23, as students of grade 7 presented a vibrant Christmas celebration.

The programme began with the school band playing Gloria, All Ye Faithful, and Dashing Through the Snow under the able guidance of Prem Moras. The lively trumpet calls and rhythmic drumbeats created a festive ambience, setting a joyful and harmonious tone for the occasion.

The programme continued with a prayer service with the candle of hope, accompanied by a soulful hymn requesting transformed hearts and earnest intentions beseeching divine grace to foster goodness, empathy, and dialogue among humanity. Following the prayer service, students performed a welcome dance, bringing energy and cheer to the assembly.

Theatrical showcase titled ‘True Spirit of Christmas’ unfolded, journeying from modern merriment toward sacred origins through alphabetic symbolism: Cake, Holidays, Ribbons, Illumination, Tree, Music, Santa. Narrative transitioned into Nativity portrayal with expressive movement, song, choreography Mary, devoted mother, Bethlehem pathway, Innkeeper encounter, twinkling constellations, humble shepherds, celestial Angels, wise Magi, troubled Herod culminating revelation proclaiming Saviour reborn daily within compassionate hearts, essence behind rejoicing.

Melodious carolling followed, echoing Long Time Ago Bethlehem, Joy To World, Ding Dong Merrily, Feliz Navidad, spreading optimism throughout gathering.

Sister Rosevera, the principal, addressed assemblage, describing season as jubilation commemorating Jesus’ birth. Insightful interpretation of festive symbols ensued: evergreen tree representing unfading divine affection and love; Santa reflecting generosity, sharing, caring; guiding star signifying light, direction, hope; angelic heralds announcing peace arising inwardly, radiating harmony outward.
