Bantwal, Feb 22: “Sahakari Bharati has been contributing for national development through sacrifices and social services,” said S R Rangamurti, member, Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS).

He was speaking during the one-day training programme for presidents, vice-presidents, directors, and secretaries of various co-operative societies at Lions Seva Mandir, B C Road, on Tuesday February 21.  It was organized by Sahakari Bharati.

“The co-operative sector is known for implementation of innovative ideas, and it discharges its duties as an offering to national development. It’s due to this uniqueness that other nations take an interest in India for its diverse nature,” said Rangamurti.

Dakshina Kannada district BJP president Padmanabha Kottari was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that co-operative banks have developed their infrastructure to the point of competing with nationalized banks. He also expressed happiness at the earnest attempts to solve a few lapses in the co-operative sector apolitically.

Taluk agricultural produce co-operative marketing president K Ravindra Kambali presided over the programme.

Prof Krishnamurti, head of department of economics, SDM College, Ujire, Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Societies deputy controller Salim, MASS president Rajaram Bhat, KMF director Krishna Bhat, district Sahakari Bharati president Timmappa Rai, and taluk APMC president Ronald D’Souza were present on the occasion.

Sahakari Bharati taluk president Jayashankar Basrintaya welcomed the gathering. HOPCOMS vice-president Laxminarayan Udupa proposed the vote of thanks. Sahakari Bharati taluk chief secretary Rajeev Bhandary compered the programme.
