Work from panchayat to parliament: Nitin Nabin to BJP cadre

Patna, Dec 24: BJP working president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday exhorted party workers to work relentlessly to ensure that the party’s saffron flag flies high from “panchayat to Parliament,” while taking sharp jibes at opposition leaders whom he described as “part-time politicians.”

Addressing party workers after arriving in Patna, Nabin urged them to remain fully committed to the organisation, unlike Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, whom he accused of defaming constitutional bodies such as the Election Commission while in India and speaking ill of the country during his foreign visits.

Nabin, a former minister and five-time MLA from Bankipur, took charge as BJP’s national working president on December 15. He was accorded a rousing welcome in Patna, with a massive roadshow organised from the airport to the party office. Thousands of BJP workers joined the procession, which was led by senior leaders including Union ministers Giriraj Singh, Nityanand Rai and Satish Chandra Dubey, state BJP president Sanjay Saraogi, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, former Union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, former Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, state ministers Mangal Pandey and Dilip Jaiswal, and BJP national spokesperson Guru Prakash Paswan.

“You must keep working hard. BJP has a very strong watchtower which identifies and picks workers from anywhere,” Nabin said, thanking the party’s central leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for giving “a small party worker” such a responsibility.

Referring to the NDA’s 202-seat victory in the recent Bihar Assembly elections, Nabin claimed that Bihar had begun the process of “punishing part-time politicians,” a trend he said would continue in West Bengal and Kerala. He stressed that BJP’s goal went beyond winning Assembly polls and focused on building a strong presence at every level of governance.

“All of you should strive to be full-time politicians. Unlike Rahul Gandhi, who comes to Bihar during elections and goes abroad for holidays, BJP workers must stay connected with the people at all times,” he said.

Without naming RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Nabin also took an indirect swipe at another “part-time politician” in Bihar, alleging that the leader skipped the recent Assembly session and was travelling abroad.

Calling upon workers to prepare for upcoming local body and panchayat elections, Nabin emphasised the importance of strengthening the party at the grassroots level. Recalling his father, former BJP MLA and JP Movement leader Navin Kishore Sinha, he said the bond between committed workers and the party was like that of a family.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary described Nabin’s elevation as a matter of pride for Bihar, saying it demonstrated how a grassroots worker could rise through dedication. State BJP president Sanjay Saraogi praised Nabin as a committed “sangathan purush,” deeply rooted in organisational work.
