Goods train derailment disrupts Howrah-Patna-Delhi rail route

Jamui, Dec 28: Eight wagons of a goods train derailed in Bihar’s Jamui district late Saturday night, disrupting rail services on the busy Howrah-Patna-Delhi route, railway officials said.

The accident occurred between Lahabon and Simultala railway stations under the Asansol division of Eastern Railways at around 11.25 pm. No casualties have been reported in the incident.

The derailment affected the movement of nearly two dozen trains overnight, causing inconvenience to passengers travelling on the route.

Railway authorities said accident relief trains were rushed to the spot from Asansol, Madhupur and Jhajha stations. Restoration work is currently underway to clear the track and resume normal train operations at the earliest.
