Panaji, Jan 2: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said Goa’s mining sector is showing steady progress, with 12 mineral blocks auctioned so far.

Of these, five blocks have already started operations, while four more are expected to commence shortly.

The government plans to auction six additional mineral blocks next month, he added.

Dr Sawant also informed that consent has been granted to five companies to lift mineral dumps on private land.

He announced that auctions of such dumps, in line with government policy, will begin within this month, a move expected to boost mining activity and revenue generation in the state.
