Brahmavar, Jan 3: The annual feast of Holy Family Church, Brahmavar was celebrated with great devotion and splendour on December 28 and 29. Fr Robin Victor D’Souza, provincial minister of the Holy Trinity Capuchin Province, was the main celebrant of the feast.
In his homily, Fr Robin D’Souza reflected on the strength and values of family life, stating that while families today may be smaller, it is essential to introspect whether they have truly become temples of prayer and dwellings of love. He emphasized that if families fail to become spaces of prayer, the responsibility lies with the members themselves.

Drawing a comparison with earlier generations, he noted that despite differences, ancestral families valued reconciliation and unity, whereas modern relationships often tend to be fragile and easily broken. Quoting Pope Francis, he reminded the faithful that families should be rooms of reconciliation and not courtrooms. He urged everyone to transform their homes into altars of peace, love, and reconciliation, and to pray earnestly for their families on the occasion of the Feast of the Holy Family.
During the celebrations, benefactors and donors were honoured with blessed candles in appreciation of their support.
The Holy Eucharistic celebration was concelebrated by Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, rector of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur; Fr Denis D’Sa, PRO of the diocese of Udupi; Fr Sunil D’Silva, parish priest of Sasthan Church; Fr Joachim D’Souza, assistant parish priest of Brahmavar; Fr Mathias Dias, principal of Nirmala English Medium School; priests from Asha Kiran Home, Heroor; and priests from the deanery.
A large number of devotees, parishioners, and priests from the dioceses of Udupi and Mangaluru participated in the celebrations. Fr John Fernandes, OFM Cap, parish priest of Brahmavar, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful celebration of the annual feast.
