Mumbai mayor will be Marathi-Hindu, infiltrators to be deported: Fadnavis

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 4: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said the BJP-led Mahayuti government would identify and deport Bangladeshi infiltrators from Mumbai, asserting that the country’s financial capital would be made safer. Addressing a rally ahead of the January 15 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, he also declared that Mumbai would get a mayor who is a Marathi and Hindu.

Fadnavis said several Bangladeshi nationals had already been deported from Mumbai in the past few months and the process would continue until all illegal infiltrators were removed. He added that the civic polls would decide Mumbai’s future and emphasised that the Mahayuti was committed to development rather than making unrealistic promises.

The Chief Minister also announced that the state government was planning a Rs 17,000-crore environmental budget for Mumbai to make it the most environmentally sustainable city in the country, with details to be unveiled soon. Reiterating the government’s housing commitment, he said every Mumbaikar, including slum dwellers, would be provided a home in the city.

Highlighting infrastructure development, Fadnavis said the state was expanding Mumbai’s Metro network rapidly to ensure faster and more comfortable travel across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, adding that development, not divisive politics, was the priority of the Mahayuti alliance.
