Panaji, Jan 6: Two separate fire incidents in the early hours of Tuesday caused significant damage to properties in North Goa, prompting swift responses from fire and emergency services.
The first blaze was reported around 4:30 am at Gharan Restaurant, situated near Sai Service in Porvorim. The fire spread rapidly, causing extensive damage to the establishment. Firefighters from the Porvorim Fire Station rushed to the spot, and additional personnel and equipment were later deployed from the Fire and Emergency Services (FES) headquarters at St Inez to help contain the flames. After sustained efforts, the fire was brought under control.

Barely two hours later, another fire emergency was reported at around 6:30 am at an under-construction hotel in Naikawado, Calangute. The fire broke out on the second floor of the building, triggering a quick response from emergency teams to prevent it from spreading further.
Officials have launched investigations into both incidents to determine the causes, while assessment teams are evaluating the extent of structural and material damage at the affected sites. No casualties have been reported so far.
