New Delhi, Jan 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged Indian startups to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the greater good of society, emphasizing affordability, inclusivity, and transparency in AI applications.
Chairing a roundtable with Indian AI startups at his residence on 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, PM Modi described the interaction with young innovators as “memorable and insightful” and lauded their contributions across diverse sectors, including e-commerce, material research, healthcare, engineering simulations, marketing, and medical research.

“Talked AI with youngsters from the Indian startup world. It was a memorable and insightful interaction, in which they shared their vision and work on how India is transforming the world of AI,” PM Modi shared on social media platform X. He added, “It is commendable how these startups are working on diverse fields… We discussed how AI can be leveraged to further societal good.”
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s support for AI-driven initiatives under the spirit of “Made in India, Made for the World” and highlighted the importance of developing AI models that reflect local and indigenous content, including regional languages.
PM Modi also noted that India will host the India AI Impact Summit 2026 next month, positioning the country as a key player in the global AI ecosystem. The roundtable featured 12 Indian AI startups shortlisted for the AI for ALL: Global Impact Challenge, which will be part of the Summit, along with CEOs and representatives from startups including Avataar, BharatGen, Fractal, Gan, Genloop, Gnani, Intellihealth, Sarvam, Shodh AI, Soket AI, Tech Mahindra, and Zenteiq.
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada also participated in the discussions, supporting PM Modi’s vision of leveraging AI for societal benefit and innovation.
