Udupi, Jan 9: Sri Sugunendra Tirtha, the paryaya swamiji of Puthige Math in Udupi, felicitated Dr Ramadas Upadhyaya Renjal, chief administrative officer of the Math’s Mumbai branch, at Prabhat Colony, east of Santacruz, near Shri Krishna Math, on Friday.

During the ceremony, Dr Upadhyaya was honoured with a shawl, sacred thread (peta), and commemorative plaque, receiving the Swamiji’s blessings. Several dignitaries and disciples of the Math, including Sushindra Tirtha, were present to witness the occasion.

Expressing his gratitude, Dr Upadhyaya said, “I feel truly blessed to be recognised by His Holiness Sugunendra Tirtha, the 29th Pontiff of Puthige Math.”

The Puthige Math, founded by Madhvacharya, the proponent of Dvaita philosophy, follows the Madhwa Vaishnavite tradition and worships Lord Panduranga (Vitthala). Dr Upadhyaya described the felicitation as a gesture of respect from devotees in Mumbai, acknowledging the Math’s spiritual legacy and guidance.
