Ferozepur, Jan 9: In a shocking incident, a financier who also ran a salon allegedly shot dead his wife and two minor daughters before ending his own life at their residence in Punjab’s Ferozepur district on Thursday morning, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Mahi Sodhi (around 40), his wife Jasvir Sodhi, and their two daughters aged 10 and 6 years. The firearm used in the incident was found lying near the bodies, police officials confirmed.
The incident occurred in the Harman Nagar area and came to light when the family’s domestic help arrived at the house in the morning. After repeated doorbell rings and phone calls went unanswered, she alerted tenants residing on the first floor of the building.
The tenants, along with neighbours, broke open the door and found the bodies with bullet injuries inside the bedroom.
Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said a detailed investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the crime. A forensic team has been deployed at the spot to collect evidence and examine the scene.
According to preliminary information, the family had gone out on Wednesday night and returned home around 11 pm. Local residents said the family shared cordial relations with neighbours and there had been no visible signs of discord.
Police said further details would emerge after completion of the forensic examination and investigation.
